About this course:
Although originating from Buddhism, mindfulness meditation is taught today as a simple, secular, evidence-based practice for your brain. With over 4000 journal published articles on its many wellness and performance related benefits; mindfulness is quickly gaining traction in corporations, hospitals, schools, and professional sports.
Mindfulness is an intentionally focused awareness—a way of paying attention on purpose in the present moment and non-judgmentally. While this notion may seem simple, attending to the constant activity of the mind for a few brief minutes can yield powerful and even surprising insights. Operating “mindfully”—in the moment an event occurs—enhances the ability to both identify and minimize sources of stress while enhancing competencies that build resiliency.
This course, based on the highly respected and empirically supported MBSR (Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction) is designed to help participants understand the philosophy, science and practice of mindfulness as well as integrate mindfulness into their everyday life.
This experiential, participatory course includes:
- Guided mindfulness meditation instruction in three primary practices
- Gentle stretching and mindful yoga
- Inquiry exercises to enhance awareness in everyday life
- Individually tailored instruction around working with personally relevant stressors
- Group discussion and processing

6-Week Virtual Practice Sessions
During weekly virtual practice sessions, participants will meet via Zoom Video Conferencing where we'll have the opportunity to reconnect as a group and in dyad "breakout rooms" to support one another in deepening our meditations and fulfilling our personal intentions. Each session will begin with a guided meditation practice followed by a check-in around how the insights from the weekend are being integrating into everyday life. Each session will conclude with recommended home practices and intention setting. Participants will have access to resources including guided meditation audio files and worksheets.
* Zoom Video Conference is extremely user friendly even for the non-tech savvy. Support are available if needed.
This program is suitable for a beginner as well as someone who wants to refresh the fundamentals of their mindfulness practice.
The Weekend Intensive Retreat and 6-Weekly Virtual Practice Sessions (24 hours of training) costs $550 and can be paid via check or credit card.
The in-person weekend retreat will be held at Pacific Pearl La Jolla, a world class Integrative Medical Center located at 6919 La Jolla Blvd, La Jolla, CA 92037. During the weekend training, you may park in the lot behind the facility and enter through the back.
